Meet Katharine Baxter

Katharine Baxter is the Founder of KB Cannabis Consulting, an independent consulting firm specializing in marketing and technical writing for the cannabis industry. With a mission to empower businesses within the cannabis sector, Katharine is dedicated to crafting impactful marketing strategies and comprehensive written content.

Since entering the cannabis industry in 2019, Katharine has worked with a variety of licensed and ancillary cannabis businesses to market their services, increase brand awareness, and become credible thought leaders. Offering digital marketing solutions like social media management and SEO-optimized copy-writing, as well as in-person services like trade show exhibiting and event planning, Katharine has had the pleasure of working on the full scope of cannabis industry marketing campaigns – generating significant increases in brand visibility, website traffic, and press for her clients.

Outside of marketing, Katharine has assisted clients in winning over 50+ merit-based cannabis business licenses, including applications which received the top score in the New Jersey ATC awards and in Redwood City, California. She has now worked in 17 states as well as in Washington, D.C. and Puerto Rico. Her work in the cannabis industry extends into business operations where she has helped with the creation of standard operating procedures (SOPs), training manuals, and most recently, an online learning management system (LMS) for dispensary employee security training called My Sapphire Training. 

Katharine is also an experienced speaker and has moderated industry discussions at digital and in-person events such as NECANN and CannaOne. She is also a published author and ghostwriter on cannabis business design and operations, and has covered topics such as cannabis security best practices, design tips, and industry legal updates. Publications include mg Magazine, Cannabis Business Executive, and Security Info Watch.

Her academic foundation includes dual Bachelor's degrees in Digital/Print Journalism and Political Science (American Government) from the University of North Texas. Following university, Katharine worked in marketing for the vegan food industry before entering cannabis, another plant-based industry.

Born and raised in Texas, Katharine now lives in Dallas with her husband, two children, and their cherished quartet of rescued Yorkies.
